Who are LitMinds?

LitMinds are constantly on the lookout for an absorbing next read. Whether browsing a bookstore's shelves or talking about books to friends and colleagues, LitMinds enjoy reading a good book and discussing their finds with others. LitMinds read for personal growth, to satisfy their unending curiosity about the world around them, or just for fun. LitMinds are likely to organize and/or participate in social events that bring together readers, authors, and booksellers, such as Indie bookstore tours, book clubs, author meet-ups, and date-a-reader parties. LitMinds savor moments spent immersed in a good read and endeavor to find new and fun ways to share this reading thrill with others.

I'm an author, how do I participate in the LitMinds community?

LitMinds wants to help authors to get the word out about their books and will work with authors to use the LitMinds website, blog, and events to connect with the LitMinded community. I'm a bookseller, how do I participate in LitMinds community?

LitMinds have a great appreciation for local, independent booksellers. The LitMinds team encourages booksellers to become active participants in our community by creating myLitMind profiles, participating in discussions, and sharing upcoming events and activities at your store. Additionally, we are eager to help in connecting local, independent bookstores with their reading audience. Share a good idea with us and we will work with you to make it happen. If you are a bookseller, we would love to hear from you about how we can serve you better. Please contact Praveen Madan at praveen@litminds.org

Why the focus on independent booksellers?

LitMinds often feel conflicted about the large players of the bookselling world, like Amazon.com and other major book chains. While LitMinds understand the conveniences of these industry "gorillas," we are saddened to see the loss of so many independent booksellers. Many LitMinds have gone so far to choose what neighborhood they live in based on the personality of the local independent bookstore and nearby cafes and businesses. By embracing local bookstores and community-based literary events and activities, LitMinds provides folks with a platform to support the independent bookseller and spread their LitMinded enthusiasm to others, locally and globally.
